Sanjay Lazar

Sanjay Lazar is an Aviation veteran of 37 years.
He is an author, aviation consultant and Harvard Law Professional with 37 years’ experience in Aviation, law and leadership and is a leadership coach and motivational speaker.
Specialized in Aviation & Skilled in Leadership, Coaching and Operations.
Sanjay was born in Mumbai (then Bombay) and studied in Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu and at St.Georges College, Mussoorie. He lost his family in the Air India Kanishka bombing at the age of 17 and began working in Air India. In between flying, he also attended Mithibai College and graduated in Economics Hons from there and did a Law degree from Jitendra Chauhan Institute of Law in 1994 specialising in International Law. He was also nominated for the IATA-Concordia program in 1996.

He became one of India’s youngest aviation trade union leaders and as General Secretary of the AICCA was deeply involved in the political trade union movement of the late 80’s, 90s and 2000’s and engaged in various litigations for employee welfare against the government in those years.

In 2012 he presented a paper “Unshackling the Maharaja” to then Air India CMD, the board and the Ministry, on building a framework to revive and rebuild Air India, reduce losses, eliminate wasteful operations, monetize its assets and move forward towards an eventual IPO. He attended the Air India Kanishka bombing criminal trials in Canada, and then lobbied and fought along with other families for a Public enquiry. He obtained individual standing before the Crown Inquiry conducted by Justice John Major of the Canadian Supreme Court to seek justice for the families. He was the Co-ordinator of the Inflight Service Department and Executive Assistant to Director-IFS, handling Aviation Operations, Induction and training programs, and policy creation. He was involved in numerous presentations to the AI CMD and board members during those years.

He Was Regional Section Head of Customer Care and Information systems, Inflight Service, SPOC for issues related DGCA, FAA, US-FDA, NTSB, DOT, EASA and others in the Dept. Fluent in Aviation Laws, Regulatory rules, Negotiations, Industrial Relations Recently completed advanced program in American Copyright and IP law through Harvardx Law School.
